Riyadh, January 2, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia has launched the Hexagon Data Center in Riyadh, described as the world’s largest government data center and classified as Tier IV, as the Kingdom positions itself in the global race to build massive data center capacity.

The facility is intended to support national development sectors by leveraging advanced technologies, with the strategy guided by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and Saudi Vision 2030, according to the statement.

The project was described as aligned with the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister and Chairman of SDAIA’s Board of Directors, to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for advanced technologies.

Building robust digital infrastructure was framed as a strategic necessity to strengthen technical sovereignty over data and diversify non-oil revenue sources, the statement said, adding that Saudi Arabia ranks first globally on several indicators, including the Global AI Index’s government strategy.

SDAIA said the Hexagon Data Center is intended as the foundation for a future network of centers across the Kingdom under its expansion plan, designed to meet rising demand for national digital infrastructure services and ensure high system availability based on global best practices.

The statement said the center meets U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold standards and has a capacity of 480 MW spanning more than 30 million square feet, incorporating energy-efficiency and smart cooling solutions, including direct liquid cooling and hybrid cooling systems, as well as renewable energy.

It said the facility has obtained international accreditations for applying the TIA-942 standard, and has also received ISO/IEC 22237 certification, in addition to Tier IV certification, which it described as the highest global standard for data center reliability, guaranteeing fault tolerance and an operational availability of 99.995%.

SDAIA said its strategy aims for the Kingdom’s data centers to generate a cumulative local economic impact exceeding SAR10 billion and annual financial savings of more than SAR1.8 billion, while advancing the digital maturity of government applications serving citizens and residents.
