Riyadh, January 18, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have agreed to establish the Centre for Cyber Economics (CCE) in Riyadh, the organizations said. The agreement was signed during the WEF Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos.
The Centre is designed to serve as an international platform for studying the economic dimension of cybersecurity. Its work will focus on generating research, analytical tools, and policy guidance that helps governments and institutions understand how cybersecurity influences economic stability and growth.
Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Majed bin Mohammed Al-Mazyed, speaking on behalf of the GCF Board of Trustees, said the initiative builds on the Kingdom’s growing role in the cybersecurity sector. He said Saudi Arabia’s local, regional, and international contributions have positioned its cybersecurity model as a leading global reference.
Al-Mazyed said the new Centre aligns with national efforts to develop global platforms and launch international initiatives in the field, following the establishment of the Global Cybersecurity Forum as an institute in 2023 by Royal Decree.
GCF said it aims to advance research, expand cooperation in cyberspace, and strengthen resilience by leveraging opportunities in the cybersecurity sector.
