RIYADH, November 27, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Riyadh Metro has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest fully driverless train network in the world, spanning 176 kilometers, marking a major global milestone for the Kingdom’s transport sector.
The metro system forms part of the capital’s wider public transport project and operates across six integrated lines with 85 stations, using advanced technologies and a fully automated driverless operating model. The network is controlled through centralized high-tech operation rooms designed to monitor performance with precision and ensure the highest safety and quality standards.
Riyadh’s public transport network — including metro and buses — supports the city’s traffic, economic, urban, social, and environmental development, while improving accessibility for all community members.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City said the recognition reflects its efforts to implement smart and sustainable mobility solutions and reinforces its commitment to building modern infrastructure that enhances quality of life and aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
