Riyadh Forum Examines How to Turn AI Ethics Principles Into Policy

RIYADH, September 17, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Policymakers and experts meeting at the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh are examining how ethical principles for AI can be converted into policies and working practices.

The fourth edition of the forum, known as GFEAI 2026, is reviewing developments since UNESCO adopted its Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in 2021.

Discussions are focused on responsibility for decisions made or supported by algorithms, along with fairness, transparency, accountability and privacy. These issues have become more prominent as AI systems take on wider roles in analysis, forecasting, content creation and decision-making.

Participants are also considering how governments and other institutions can establish safeguards while allowing the development and use of AI technologies.

The forum is addressing the need for international coordination as AI applications operate across national borders and algorithmic decisions can affect people in several countries.

The Riyadh discussions are intended to help connect existing ethical principles with practical governance frameworks.

The forum brings together policymakers, technical experts, researchers and other participants involved in AI governance.
