The interactive art corner in Arar highlighted local creativity, heritage-inspired design and the role of handmade crafts in preserving cultural memory.

A traditional pottery and householdware painting corner attracted visitors at the first Badnah Tourism Diversity Forum in Arar, offering an interactive art experience that combined visual art with local heritage.

The corner was presented by Saudi artist Shahad Al-Sallal, who showcased handmade works inspired by traditional motifs, local environments and popular heritage.

Shahad Abdulrahman Al-Sallal, supervisor of the corner, said the idea was based on transforming clay vessels, household tools and heritage objects into artworks carrying drawings and decorative patterns connected to the region’s cultural identity.

She said the initiative aims to highlight the artistic value of heritage objects and introduce visitors to creative crafts that can help preserve cultural heritage through contemporary methods.

The corner drew interest from visitors of different age groups, allowing them to learn about the stages of drawing and colouring while viewing a range of artworks reflecting local skill and creativity.

The activity formed part of the first Badnah Tourism Diversity Forum, organised by the Tourism Development Association in the Northern Borders Region at Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed Hall in Arar.

The forum brings together specialists and participants from the tourism and development sectors, with the aim of raising awareness of the region’s tourism assets and highlighting investment and development opportunities.

It also seeks to support tourism activity in the Northern Borders Region by presenting its natural, heritage and cultural elements, while supporting productive families, craftsmen and local talents through cultural and entertainment programmes designed to enrich the visitor experience.
