Paris, October 25, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – A painting by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, believed to depict his muse Dora Maar, sold for €27 million ($31 million) at a Paris auction on Friday.

The artwork, titled “Bust of a Woman with a Flowered Hat (Dora Maar), 1943”, had been owned by a French family since 1944 and remained in private hands for more than eight decades before being sold by the heirs.

Including fees, the total sale price reached €32 million, according to the Drouot auction house. The buyer, who was present in the auction room, was not publicly identified.

Art specialists noted that the painting had never been exhibited publicly, and its existence was previously known only through a 1944 photograph.

“It is without a doubt one of the most emotional works of Picasso involving his muse,” said auctioneer Christophe Lucien, noting that the artist painted it as his relationship with Dora Maar was nearing its end.

Art expert Agnès Sevestre-Barbe said the heirs chose to sell the painting because it could not be physically divided among them.
