Netanyahu announces wider Israeli offensive in southern Lebanon

JERUSALEM, March 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that Israel would widen its invasion of southern Lebanon, as Israeli forces continued operations against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.
Netanyahu said Israel would expand what he called the “existing security strip” in Lebanon.
“We are determined to fundamentally change the situation in the north,” he told reporters during a visit to northern Israel.
He added that Hezbollah still retained the ability to fire rockets at Israel.
No immediate details were announced on the expanded operation.
Lebanese officials said more than 1,100 people had been killed in the fighting since the Iran war began.
