TEHRAN, July 12, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Multiple locations across Iran’s southern Hormozgan province came under attack on Sunday, with military facilities reported hit and one telecommunications technician killed, according to Iranian state media.
The attacks targeted sites in Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas and Hajiabad, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
Iranian authorities did not identify who carried out the attacks, referring only to an “enemy” assault. The reported strikes came amid continuing hostilities between Iran and the United States.
Hossein Amir Teymouri, governor of Qeshm, said between 10 and 11 “enemy projectiles” had struck the island since Sunday afternoon.
All the locations hit on Qeshm were military targets, and no casualties were reported on the island, IRNA cited the governor as saying.
The agency later reported additional attacks on Iranian military facilities in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Hajiabad.
In a separate update, IRNA said a maintenance technician employed by the Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran was killed while working on Farur Island in Hormozgan’s Bandar Lengeh county. Two of his colleagues were injured.
US Central Command has not issued an immediate response to a request for comment.
Hormozgan province extends along Iran’s strategic coastlines on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
