Microsoft’s Saudi Arabia East Cloud Region to Become Available in November
RIYADH, September 1, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Microsoft has announced that its new Saudi Arabia East cloud datacenter region will become available to customers in November 2026, expanding access to locally hosted cloud and artificial intelligence services across the Kingdom.
The announcement was made during the opening day of LEAP 2026 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham.
The new cloud region will allow government entities and private-sector organizations to operate eligible cloud workloads and AI applications locally. It is intended to strengthen their ability to innovate, expand digital services and deploy advanced technologies at scale.
Located in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, the datacenter region comprises three availability zones for the Microsoft Azure platform. Customers will be able to host eligible data within the Kingdom while benefiting from enterprise-grade security, operational resilience, business continuity and low-latency access to cloud and AI services.
The opening represents a new phase in Microsoft’s long-term investment in Saudi Arabia. The local infrastructure will provide organizations with the digital foundation needed to move AI projects from testing to large-scale deployment and everyday operations.
It is also expected to expand opportunities for Saudi organizations to operate more digital systems and applications domestically, particularly in sectors with strict requirements for data residency, security, governance, resilience and rapid response.
Microsoft said the investment would help organizations develop and scale locally relevant AI applications while supporting economic diversification, innovation and Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global technology and AI hub under Vision 2030.
