RIYADH, June 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - French President Emmanuel Macron said it was vital that Iran, Hezbollah and Israel do not resume fighting, while voicing support for a preliminary U.S.-Iran agreement aimed at ending the war.
Macron made the remarks in his closing statement at the G7 Summit in France.
On Russia’s war in Ukraine, Macron said U.S. President Donald Trump and other leaders at the summit had recognized that Russia was not seeking peace.
“President Trump, like the rest of us, has simply taken note that there is no serious will on Russia’s side today for peace,” Macron said.
Macron also described what he called a “deep change in approach” by the United States on the Ukraine war, citing Washington’s willingness to work with European countries to support Ukraine.
The French president said he had always trusted Trump and welcomed the U.S. position.
“Today, the United States of America has made a commitment. That’s very important,” Macron said.
