Lavrov: Trump’s Gaza Plan Is the Best Option Available

Paris, October 9, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point proposal to end the war in Gaza is “the best option on the table” despite its broad language and limited reference to the West Bank, noting it appears acceptable to Arab states and not rejected by Israel. Lavrov made the comments in an interview published by RT and the Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov said the plan’s utility will hinge on negotiations over implementation mechanisms, including the release of hostages and arrangements for Gaza’s post-war administration. He added that Moscow continues to back a two – state solution while supporting ongoing talks mediated by regional and international partners.

The Kremlin has voiced support for Trump’s proposal since it was unveiled last week, which envisions and internationally body – led by Trump and including former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair – to oversee Gaza’s transition. Several Arab governments backing the framework say it must lead to Palestinian statehood, a position Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly rejected.
