Kings’ and Princes’ Cups Horse Racing Festival opens in Riyadh

RIYADH, Dec. 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Kings’ and Princes’ Cups Horse Racing Festival officially began on Thursday evening at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.
The opening night featured four races, starting with the Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Cup (Grade 2 – Local), a 1,600-meter race for three-year-olds with a prize of SAR700,000.
This was followed by the Prince Badr bin Abdulaziz Cup for mares (Grade 2 – Local), a 1,800-meter contest offering a purse of SAR500,000, and the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Cup for mares (Grade 2 – Local), a 2,000-meter race with a prize of SAR700,000.
The evening concluded with the King Abdullah Cup (Grade 1 – Local), a 1,600-meter race for two-year-olds, featuring a prize of SAR800,000.
The festival continues on Friday with a series of high-profile races, beginning with the fifth race, the Imam Mohammed bin Saud Cup over 1,200 meters.
The program also includes the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Sword (Group 3 – Local) for Arabian horses over 1,600 meters, followed by the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Cup for two-year-old mares (Group 1 – Local) over 1,600 meters.
Later races will feature the King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Cup (Group 1 – Local) over 1,800 meters and the King Faisal Cup over 1,600 meters. The festival is set to conclude with the King Saud Cup over 2,000 meters.
