King Salman chairs Cabinet session, reviews regional ties and approves agreements

RIYADH, December 24 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held on Tuesday in Riyadh, during which ministers reviewed regional and international developments, domestic achievements, and approved a series of agreements and decisions.
The Cabinet reviewed recent discussions and communications between His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and leaders of brotherly and friendly countries aimed at expanding cooperation, advancing shared interests and enhancing coordination on global issues.
The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the fourth meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council and the eighth meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, which reaffirmed commitments to strengthening relations across all sectors and resulted in the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding, particularly in development fields.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet praised the high-speed electric train project linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, describing it as a major initiative supporting transport, tourism, economic activity and Gulf connectivity.
The Cabinet also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s participation in regional and international meetings, including the outcomes of the 46th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which reaffirmed the importance of fully and continuously implementing the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to strengthen joint Gulf action.
Ministers welcomed the decision by the United States of America to lift sanctions imposed on the Syrian Arab Republic and praised the role of U.S. President Donald Trump, from the announcement made during his visit to the Kingdom to the signing of legislation repealing the Caesar Act.
The Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to regional security and stability, peaceful conflict resolution, humanitarian assistance and intercultural dialogue, and reiterated support for international organisations and development efforts across the Middle East and beyond.

On domestic matters, the Cabinet commended government entities for enhancing citizens’ capabilities, advancing comprehensive development and maintaining leadership across various sectors, while stressing the need to accelerate national initiatives.
The Cabinet noted the inclusion of Riyadh, AlUla and Riyadh Al-Khabra in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable learning opportunities.
It also noted that Saudi Arabia ranked second globally in Digital Government in the 2025 World Bank Group GovTech Maturity Index, and fifth globally and first in the Arab world in artificial intelligence sector growth, according to the Global AI Index.
The Cabinet praised the success of the Made in Saudi Expo 2025, which featured the Syrian Arab Republic as guest of honour and resulted in the signing of agreements and partnerships to enhance the competitiveness of national products.
During the session, the Cabinet approved and authorised a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, including cooperation in extradition, strategic partnerships, Arabic language promotion, legal and judicial affairs, green and digital shipping, antimicrobial resistance, customs cooperation, and auditing and accounting with several international partners.
