Jeddah, December 15 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — King Abdulaziz International Airport recorded a historic milestone in 2025, handling 50 million passengers over the year, the highest number ever registered by a Saudi airport since the launch of civil aviation in the Kingdom.

The passenger figure places the Jeddah airport among the world’s major international airports by traffic volume and reflects its growing role as a regional hub and a key national gateway connecting Saudi Arabia with global destinations.

According to Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO), the milestone highlights the airport’s contribution to supporting tourism and facilitating travel for visitors, Umrah performers and pilgrims, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a gateway to the Two Holy Mosques. The development aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives aimed at economic diversification and improving the travel experience.

To mark the occasion, JEDCO organized a reception for the 50-millionth passenger, a French national arriving from Paris on a Saudia flight to participate in a sports tournament hosted in Jeddah. The passenger was welcomed by the company’s leadership and presented with a commemorative gift.

JEDCO Chief Executive Officer Eng. Mazen Johar said the achievement reflects the airport’s operational readiness and represents a key milestone as preparations continue to double passenger capacity in the coming years.

Johar attributed the milestone to the support and guidance of the Kingdom’s leadership, as well as the oversight of the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and the Chief Executive Officer of Matarat Holding, in addition to the efforts of partners involved in delivering services to passengers and visitors.
