Jeddah, Jan. 9, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The third annual Japanese cultural festival “Hayy Matsuri” began on Thursday at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah, organisers said.
They said the festival returns with a three-day programme inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Shu Ha Ri, which emphasises learning through imitation, followed by development and ultimately innovation and creation.
Running until Jan. 10, the festival aims to strengthen cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and Japan, highlighting the arts as a bridge for human connection and a platform for fostering mutual understanding, organisers said.
The programme includes musical performances, live demonstrations, an expanded film programme at Hayy Cinema, and interactive activities for visitors of all ages.
Organisers said events include anime and manga showcases, cultural competitions, games, handicraft workshops, and activities focused on visual culture, poetry and design, alongside live performances featuring Japanese artistic and heritage practices.
They said this year’s edition also includes an open market offering Japan-inspired products and Japanese food and beverages, alongside an interactive space for immersive music listening experiences inspired by Japan’s deep-listening environments.
