Islamic Civilization Center in Tashkent Traces 3,000 Years of Regional History
RIYADH, August 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The Islamic Civilization Center in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, presents nearly 3,000 years of regional history through chronological galleries, manuscripts, archaeological objects and interactive technologies.
Its exhibition hall covers approximately 8,350 square meters and is divided into “Pre-Islamic Heritage,” “The First Renaissance,” “The Second Renaissance,” and “New Uzbekistan.” More than 1,500 exhibits were added during the past year, including 800 ancient manuscripts, historical maps and archaeological finds.
International collaborations supported the return of 743 original artifacts. The center’s Quran Hall houses the historic Uthmanic Quran alongside illuminated manuscripts documenting changes in Islamic calligraphy and ornamentation.
Other sections present regional work in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, literature and architecture, with displays covering cities including Samarkand. The “New Uzbekistan” gallery uses three-dimensional installations, digital archives and interactive media to connect historical material with the country’s modern transformation.
The center also contains a specialized research library, digital preservation and restoration laboratories, and repositories for its artifact collection.
