NEW DELHI, May 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged BRICS nations on Thursday to condemn what he called violations of international law by the United States and Israel, Reuters reported.
Speaking at a BRICS+ meeting in Delhi, Araqchi described Iran as a victim of illegal expansionism and warmongering and called on member states to resist Western hegemony.
Araqchi also accused the United Arab Emirates of direct involvement in military operations against Iran, in a rare meeting where Iranian and Emirati officials were in the same room since the start of the war. The UAE was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar.
Reuters reported that differences between Iran and the UAE could complicate efforts by BRICS, which operates by consensus, to agree on a joint statement.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stressed that safe and unimpeded maritime flows through international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, remain vital for the global economy.
