Riyadh, March 11, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iran warned Wednesday that ports and docks across the region could become targets if Iranian ports come under attack.
The warning was delivered by Abolfazl Shekarchi, who said Iranian forces would respond if the country’s port infrastructure is threatened.
“If Iran’s ports are threatened, all ports and docks in the region will be our legitimate targets,” Shekarchi said in remarks reported by Iranian media.
The statement followed accusations by United States Central Command that Iran has used civilian ports along the Strait of Hormuz to conduct military operations that threaten international shipping.
CENTCOM said ports used for such purposes could be considered legitimate military targets under international law.
The warning comes amid escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor through which around one-fifth of the world’s oil supply normally passes.
Shipping through the strait has been severely disrupted since the start of the conflict following strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.
