TEHRAN, July 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate phone calls with his counterparts in Turkey and Oman on Thursday amid renewed conflict in the region.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the ministers reviewed the latest regional developments, particularly recent events in the Strait of Hormuz.
The talks also covered issues of mutual interest.
“The parties emphasized the importance of making full use of diplomatic channels, maintaining ongoing communication and coordination to address regional issues, and preventing any further escalation of tensions,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
The calls came as international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz declined after renewed U.S. strikes against Iranian coastal installations, according to marine tracking data.
A U.S. official told CNN earlier this week that Iran fired on three commercial vessels in Oman’s territorial waters near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
