Foreign Ministers Condemn Israeli Settler Incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

RIYADH, June 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey strongly condemned continued incursions by extremist Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli forces, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The ministers also condemned the raising of the Israeli flag inside the compound’s courtyards.

They said the actions constituted a clear violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions and the historical and legal status quo at the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

The ministers also condemned what they described as systematic and unlawful Israeli measures aimed at changing the historical, legal and demographic character of occupied East Jerusalem and undermining the sanctity of Islamic and Christian holy sites.

They rejected any attempt to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, while acknowledging the role of the Hashemite custodianship in this regard.

The ministers said the full 144-dunum area of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department under Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf is the legal authority responsible for managing the site and regulating entry.

They held Israeli authorities responsible for halting the escalation and warned that repeated violations would worsen tensions, fuel instability and undermine international peace efforts.

The ministers reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and an independent state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also renewed support for efforts to end the Israeli occupation and achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, international law, relevant U.N. resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
