RIYADH, August 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held the third Strategic Dialogue in Riyadh on Wednesday, placing economic cooperation and maritime security at the center of their discussions.

The dialogue followed Prince Faisal’s reception of Motegi at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.

Prince Faisal described Japan as an important economic partner for Saudi Arabia and said the relationship, established over decades, is based on trust and mutual respect.

“We see promising opportunities to expand cooperation in investment, energy and resources, supply chains, defense and technology, and the exchange of expertise and capabilities, in ways that support our priorities and advance our shared goals,” Prince Faisal said.

The Saudi foreign minister said the Kingdom would remain a trusted partner for Japan, including in the energy sector. He also commended Japanese initiatives supporting economic resilience and the stability of global energy and trade markets.

Maritime security was identified as another shared priority. Prince Faisal stressed the need to protect freedom of navigation under international law and keep the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandeb and other international maritime routes open, safe and free from threats.

Prince Faisal said Saudi Arabia would continue working to reduce regional tensions and prevent renewed conflicts through comprehensive diplomatic solutions addressing sources of instability.

“We affirm that diplomacy, dialogue and peaceful means remain our priorities, and we value Japan’s support for the principles of international law, its humanitarian and development contributions, and its positions in support of stability and peaceful solutions,” he said.
