Energy Exhibit at Ithra Highlights Saudi Arabia’s Oil Heritage and Future Innovations

Dhahran, September 18, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Energy Exhibit at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) continues to serve as a cultural and educational landmark, offering visitors an overview of Saudi Arabia’s oil history and its role in the Kingdom’s development.
Established in 1963, the exhibit has hosted numerous high-profile visitors over the decades, including former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1991, Chinese President Jiang Zemin in 1999, and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 2001.
The exhibit traces the stages of oil discovery, production, refining, and marketing, while also addressing questions on how Saudi Arabia developed vast oil reserves and the methods behind exploration and extraction. It features 67 interactive screens presenting information on achievements and challenges in the oil industry, as well as new technologies shaping the future of energy.
Visitors are guided through the geological origins of oil, modern drilling operations, refinery processes, and emerging alternative energy solutions. The exhibit also includes a theater that hosts films, performances, and educational events, such as celebrations of the International Day of Mathematics.
