DUBAI, November 21, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Emirates and Rolls-Royce signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Dubai Airshow 2025 under which Emirates will begin performing Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) for Trent 900 engines powering its A380 fleet starting in 2027. Emirates has also extended its TotalCare service agreement for the A380 program into the 2040s.
Under the MoU, Emirates will build a new engine maintenance facility, with the first induction planned for 2027. The airline will handle fan case repairs, while Rolls-Royce will retain module repair capability within its global MRO network.
Ahmed Safa, Emirates’ Head of Engineering and MRO, said the agreement aligns with the airline’s plans to operate its A380 fleet into the 2040s.
“We wanted to secure our own engine maintenance capabilities. We are pleased to sign this agreement with Rolls-Royce, which takes our partnership further,” he said, noting that the new capabilities will be integrated into the Emirates Engineering Maintenance Centre and contribute to Dubai’s growing aerospace sector.
Paul Keenan, Director of Commercial Aviation Aftermarket Operations at Rolls-Royce, said the announcement supports the company’s plan to expand global MRO capacity by 2030.
“Our global network combines Rolls-Royce owned facilities, joint ventures and strategic collaborations. We are delighted to welcome Emirates to that mix ahead of the new facility opening in 2027,” he said.
He added that the agreement will provide additional capacity across the Rolls-Royce network and reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting customers worldwide.
Emirates is the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380, with 116 aircraft in its fleet.
