Dark Saffron retains Dubai Golden Shaheen title at Meydan

RIYADH, March 28, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Dark Saffron retained the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen title on Saturday at Meydan Racecourse, winning the sixth race on the card at the 30th Dubai World Cup.
Owned by Sultan Ali, trained by Ahmad bin Harmash and ridden by Connor Beasley, the four-year-old secured a second straight victory in the 1,200-metre dirt sprint.
The race carried a total purse of $2 million, with Dark Saffron taking the $1.16 million winner’s prize after finishing in 1:10.68.
American runner Pintornato finished second to earn $400,000, while the UAE’s Cats by Five placed third and collected $200,000.
The race was contested by 12 horses and was sponsored by Nakheel.
