RIYADH, March 31, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – China and Pakistan called on Tuesday for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks to address the war involving Iran, after talks in Beijing between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a joint statement, the two countries said hostilities should stop at once and warned against any further spread of the conflict across the region. They also called for the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity, national independence and security in Iran and the Gulf states.
Beijing and Islamabad urged all sides to ensure the safe passage of commercial and civilian shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and to protect vessels and crews affected by the disruption in one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes.
The joint position also called for an end to attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, including energy, desalination, power and peaceful nuclear facilities, while stressing the importance of the United Nations and international law in efforts to secure a lasting settlement.
The statement followed high-level talks in Beijing as Pakistan continued diplomatic contacts over the conflict, with Islamabad increasingly presenting itself as a channel for de-escalation efforts involving regional and international actors.
