Saudi Foreign Minister Says Kingdom’s Security Is Non-Negotiable at BRICS Summit
NEW DELHI, September 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah said the Kingdom’s security, territorial integrity and protection of its national assets were non-negotiable, and that Gulf Cooperation Council states would not accept attacks on their territories, facilities or vital interests.
Speaking during the second day of the BRICS 2026 Summit in New Delhi, Prince Faisal said no pretext or justification could make such targeting acceptable.
He called for de-escalation to take priority amid current regional developments, allowing room for political and diplomatic efforts. Security in the Arabian Gulf required respect for states’ sovereignty and independence, non-interference in their internal affairs, good neighbourliness and the peaceful resolution of disputes, he said.
The minister also stressed the need to protect freedom of navigation and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and other maritime corridors. Disruptions to those routes would affect global markets, supply chains and economic growth, he warned.
Saudi Arabia participated in the summit as an invited country. Prince Faisal represented Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister, and conveyed greetings from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince. He thanked India for its invitation and its work during its 2026 BRICS presidency.
Prince Faisal called for stronger international institutions capable of fulfilling their responsibilities. He said the international system’s credibility depended on the consistent application of its rules and laws, and that Saudi Arabia looked forward to continued engagement with BRICS and other international partners.
