PARIS, November 26, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Ahmad Al-Khowaiter, Executive Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Saudi Aramco, emphasized the essential connection between artificial intelligence and the energy sector, noting that energy is fundamental to powering AI data centers while AI technologies can significantly enhance energy supply and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the Adopt AI Grand Palais international summit in Paris, Al-Khowaiter underscored Aramco’s strong ties with French companies and announced that Aramco Ventures will open a new office in Paris.
He highlighted the company’s partnership with Pasqal, a quantum computing leader, which facilitated the installation of the Kingdom’s first quantum computer for industrial applications at Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran. The initiative aims to build quantum computing capabilities in the region and accelerate applications in energy and materials.
Al-Khowaiter noted that data centers consumed approximately 415 terawatt-hours of electricity last year—equivalent to France’s total electricity use—and that this demand is expected to double by 2030. Rising global energy needs, he said, will make AI essential for producing energy more efficiently.
Regarding Aramco’s AI program, he stated: “We operate one of the most powerful supercomputers in the Middle East and have access to over 90 years of data.” He added that more than 400 AI use cases have been identified across Aramco’s operations, contributing to improvements in efficiency and safety. In 2024, the value generated from technology at Aramco reached $4 billion, with nearly half attributed to AI-driven solutions.
