RIYADH, April 16 — Almarai signed two agreements aimed at helping localize Saudi Arabia’s fish and seafood processing sector, supporting domestic investment and economic diversification under Vision 2030.

The agreements were signed with the Ministry of Investment and the Shareek Program Center.

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley and Minister of Investment Fahad Al-Saif witnessed the signing ceremony, which was also attended by Almarai Chairman Prince Naif bin Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud AlKabeer.

The project is intended to strengthen food security by increasing local seafood production, improving supply chain efficiency and expanding product availability in the domestic market.

It also aims to localize key parts of the seafood value chain and support the development of the kingdom’s fisheries sector.

The initiative is aligned with the National Food Security Strategy and the National Agriculture Strategy, with the stated goal of supporting resource sustainability, reducing reliance on imports and expanding local manufacturing capacity.

The move forms part of broader efforts to localize up to 85% of food industries and position Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for food production through private-sector investment and innovation.

The agreements are also expected to improve value-chain efficiency, diversify economic resources and support the objectives of Vision 2030.
