ZATCA Seizes 58.6 Kilograms of Methamphetamine at Jeddah Islamic Port

JEDDAH, August 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority seized 58.6 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed inside a shipment of shoes at Jeddah Islamic Port.
ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said customs inspectors discovered the narcotics during a routine examination of the shipment using advanced security technologies and trained detection methods.
Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to identify the intended recipients inside Saudi Arabia. Three people were subsequently arrested.
Al-Harbi said ZATCA would continue strengthening customs controls over imports and exports in cooperation with the Kingdom’s security agencies to prevent illicit substances from entering the country.
