Paris, Sept 23, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Dozens of Western nations on Monday called for the reopening of the medical corridor between Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank, offering financial aid, medical staff, and equipment to support Palestinian patients.

In a joint statement released by Canada, the countries urged Israel to restore access for medical evacuations so that Gaza’s patients could receive urgent treatment in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

We strongly appeal to Israel to restore the medical corridor to the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, so medical evacuations from Gaza can be resumed and patients can get the treatment that they so urgently need on Palestinian territory,” the statement said.

Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the European Union were among the signatories. The United States was not listed.

The statement also called on Israel to lift restrictions on deliveries of medicine and medical equipment to Gaza. Aid groups have reported that only limited supplies have reached the enclave since Israel eased its blockade in May. The World Health Organization warned earlier this year that Gaza’s health system is at breaking point.

Images of malnourished Palestinians, including children, have drawn global condemnation of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, which began in October 2023 after an attack by Hamas that killed 1,200 people and saw more than 250 taken hostage. Israel says its actions are self-defense, while U.N. experts and rights groups have accused it of committing genocide.

Several U.S. allies, including Britain and France, have recently expressed support for Palestinian statehood at the United Nations as part of efforts to advance a two-state solution, despite Washington’s opposition.
