Iranian President Says Country Faces ‘Full-Scale War’ and Economic Strain

RIYADH, August 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is confronting a full-scale economic, military and security war while acknowledging the difficulties affecting the country’s economy and population.
“We are apologetic that these problems exist, as we find ourselves in a full-scale economic, military, and security war,” Iranian state media IRNA reported Pezeshkian as saying on Sunday.
Pezeshkian identified inflation, employment, livelihoods and the public’s future among the issues confronting his government.
“As the government, we are seeking with all our being to steer inflation, public problems, people’s livelihoods, people’s jobs, people’s future, and people’s lives towards dignity and pride,” he added.
Iran’s economy has been placed under pressure by years of sanctions and the financial strain of the ongoing war. The country could face further economic restrictions after US President Donald Trump threatened to intensify Washington’s pressure on Tehran.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously said Washington was preparing economic measures that had “never been seen” against Iran. No details of the planned measures were provided in the report.
