BUCHAREST, June 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Ukraine’s air force said it intercepted or neutralised 40 missiles and 602 drones during a large overnight Russian attack that included hypersonic missiles.

Russia launched 656 drones and 73 missiles in total, the air force said.

The barrage included 33 ballistic missiles and eight Zircon hypersonic missiles.

Air force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told Ukrainian television that the use of eight Zircon missiles was likely the largest number of that missile type deployed in a simultaneous strike.

The Zircon has a range of 1,000 kilometres and travels at nine times the speed of sound, according to Moscow.

Ukraine’s air force said it shot down or neutralised 40 missiles, including 11 ballistic missiles, but did not list the Zircon missiles among those intercepted.
