UAE, Swiss leaders discuss economy, AI cooperation, announce joint economic committee

Abu Dhabi, February 3, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Guy Parmelin held talks in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to review bilateral relations and explore cooperation in the economy, investment, advanced technology and artificial intelligence.


The meeting at Qasr Al Shati included discussion of the Global AI Summit, scheduled to be hosted in Geneva in 2027 and in the UAE in 2028, with both sides stressing the use of AI to develop solutions to shared global challenges and support sustainable growth.


The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues, emphasising dialogue and diplomatic approaches to promote global peace and stability.


Officials attending included Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, alongside ministers, senior officials and the accompanying Swiss delegation.


During the meeting, the UAE and Switzerland announced a memorandum of understanding between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade and Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research to establish a joint economic committee.


They also announced a letter of intent between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Federal Department of Foreign Affairs on cooperation in water and implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6.
