RIYADH, April 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The U.S. military seized another tanker on Thursday linked to Iranian oil smuggling, the Defense Department said.
The Pentagon said U.S. forces seized the Guyana-flagged oil tanker Majestic X in the Indian Ocean.
The department said it would continue maritime enforcement operations to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran.
The seizure came after Iran attacked three cargo ships on Wednesday in the Strait of Hormuz and captured two of them.
Ship-tracking data showed the Majestic X in the Indian Ocean between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The vessel had been bound for Zhoushan, China.
The tanker, previously named Phonix, had been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2024 over shipments of Iranian crude oil in violation of U.S. sanctions on Iran.
There was no immediate Iranian response.
