Trump Warns Iran Over Possible Mines in Strait of Hormuz

Riyadh, March 10, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Donald Trump warned that Iran would face severe military consequences if explosive mines were placed in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said he had received no reports confirming that mines had been deployed in the waterway but called for their immediate removal if they had been placed.

“If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before,” he wrote on social media.

Concerns about potential mines in the Strait of Hormuz have raised fears that shipping could be disrupted in one of the world’s most important energy routes.

Around one-fifth of global oil supplies pass through the strait, which measures about 33 kilometers (21 miles) at its narrowest point.

Analysts say any disruption to tanker traffic could push oil and natural gas prices higher, affecting global energy markets.
