Trump Says Venezuelan Airspace Should Be Considered Closed

WASHINGTON, November 30, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that airspace above and around Venezuela should be considered “closed in its entirety,” as Reuters reported, without offering further details. The announcement caused concern in Caracas amid increased U.S. pressure on President Nicolas Maduro’s government.

“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

U.S. officials contacted by Reuters were surprised by the statement and said they were unaware of any military operations to enforce a closure of Venezuelan airspace. The Pentagon did not respond to requests for comment, and the White House provided no additional explanation.

Venezuela’s government issued a statement on Saturday condemning Trump’s comments, calling them a “colonialist threat” against the country’s sovereignty and “incompatible with international law.”

The statement said the U.S. president’s post “represents a hostile, unilateral and arbitrary act, incompatible with the principles of international law.”
