WASHINGTON, June 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he held a “very productive call” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to stop shooting, CNN reported.
“There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump said he had also held a call with Hezbollah leadership “through highly placed Representatives.”
He said Hezbollah agreed that “all shooting will stop,” and that Israel would not attack Hezbollah and Hezbollah would not attack Israel.
Before the call, Netanyahu had ordered the Israeli military to strike Beirut’s Dahieh district, a Hezbollah stronghold.
The order came amid a broader wave of Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon after Netanyahu said Israel would deepen its offensive against Hezbollah.
Iranian media reported Monday that Tehran was suspending peace talks with the United States because of Netanyahu’s actions in Lebanon.
