U.S. president says Tehran accepted many elements of a 15-point plan, rules out uranium enrichment and says Washington will discuss tariff and sanctions relief.

WASHINGTON, April 8 - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran had agreed to “many” of the points in a U.S. ceasefire plan, hours after he declared a two-week truce and said Washington would work closely with Tehran.
In a social media post, Trump said the United States would discuss tariff and sanctions relief with Iran and added that there would be no uranium enrichment under any future arrangement. He also said many of the 15 points proposed by Washington had been accepted by the Iranian side.
The remarks came as the United States and Iran moved into a fragile two-week ceasefire brokered with Pakistani mediation, with the core disputes over Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions and regional influence still unresolved. Reuters reported separately that Iran had proposed terms including sanctions relief, the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from regional bases and conditions tied to navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also said Iran had undergone “regime change.” Mojtaba Khamenei had replaced his father as Iran’s supreme leader, while the country’s president and foreign minister remained unchanged from before the conflict.
The ceasefire has raised hopes of broader negotiations, but major differences remain over uranium enrichment, sanctions and long-term security arrangements in the Gulf.
