Trump Says He May Meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Amid Talks

WASHINGTON, June 3 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was involved in talks with Washington aimed at ending hostilities, Reuters reported, citing an interview Trump gave to the U.S. podcast “Pod Force One.”
“He’s involved, absolutely,” Trump said. “I think they have a lot of respect for him.”
Trump said he had heard Khamenei was not doing well but was giving his approval during negotiations.
“I’d like to meet him. We probably will meet at some point, depending on how it all works out,” Trump said.
Trump described the Iran war as a success, saying the country’s military had been defeated.
“Iran’s a big success,” Trump said. “We’re working on a deal, and that happens fine. If it doesn’t happen, that’s OK too. We’ll do it the other way.”
Trump did not specify what he meant, but has previously said the United States could resume strikes if a deal is not reached.
