MIAMI, March 28, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that “Cuba is next” during a speech at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute’s summit in Miami, where he also praised the success of U.S. military action in Venezuela and Iran.
Trump did not specify what action he intended to take against the island nation, but has repeatedly suggested that Havana’s government, which is facing a severe economic crisis, is vulnerable.
“I built this great military. I said, ‘You’ll never have to use it’. But sometimes you have to use it. And Cuba is next by the way,” Trump told the conference. “But pretend I didn’t say that. Pretend I didn’t.”
Reuters reported that the Trump administration has opened negotiations with elements of Cuba’s leadership in recent weeks, even as Trump has hinted that more forceful action could be possible.
Earlier in March, Trump said Cuba could face a “friendly takeover,” before adding that it might not be a friendly one. Cuba has been under added strain after Venezuelan oil shipments were halted following political change in Caracas.
