ANKARA, July 7 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - U.S. President Donald Trump headed to Ankara for this year’s NATO summit, with Russia’s war in Ukraine set to dominate discussions after deadly Russian strikes on Kyiv.
Trump is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the summit, days after the two leaders spoke by phone.
The U.S. president also held a nearly 90-minute call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, during which he again offered to help end the war, according to Russia’s foreign ministry.
The summit comes as NATO allies weigh continued support for Ukraine and broader security challenges facing the alliance.
Trump had pledged to end the war quickly after returning to office, but more than 500 days into his current term, Washington has not secured a path to peace between Kyiv and Moscow.
