Washington/Doha, September 10, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel’s strike on Doha was “not a decision made by me,” distancing himself from the attack and emphasizing that Washington learned of it too late to intervene.
“This was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that once his administration was informed, he directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to notify Qatari officials, but the warning came too late.
Trump said he had instructed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalize a defense cooperation agreement with Qatar, amending an existing pact signed during his visit to Doha in May.
According to the Amiri Diwan, Trump spoke by phone with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which he expressed solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemned the strike on its sovereignty.
Trump stressed that “diplomatic solutions are sufficient to resolve outstanding issues in the region” and reaffirmed that Qatar is a trusted strategic ally of the United States. He also urged Doha to continue its mediation efforts to end the war in Gaza, describing Qatar’s role as “a key factor in establishing peace in the region.”
