Trump Claims Iran’s Agreement on Enriched Uranium

WASHINGTON, April 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that Iran has agreed to hand over its enriched uranium buried under damaged nuclear sites, a statement that would amount to a major concession from Tehran if confirmed, though neither Iran not intermediary countries have corroborated the assertion.

Trump made the remarks to reporters before departing for Las Vegas, describing the materials as “nuclear dust” - his shorthand for approximately 970 pounds of enriched uranium located beneath Iranian nuclear facilities struck by U.S. B-2 bombers last year.

“They’ve agreed to give us back the nuclear dust that’s way underground because of the attack we made with the B-2 bombers”, Trump said.

The surrender of enriched uranium has been a central U.S. demand in ongoing negotiations aimed at preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Such a move would represent a significant shift in Tehran’s position and could serve as a cornerstone of any eventual deal between the two countries.

The White House did not respond to follow-up questions on whether a formal agreement exists, under what terms the uranium would be surrender or to whom it would be transferred.

Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purpose and that it does not seek a nuclear weapon. No Iranian official or third-party mediator has publicly confirmed any such agreement.

When pressed by a reporter on what was delaying further progress, Trump described the situation as “very complicated” while suggesting talks were advancing rapidly.

“I don’t think we’re waiting. I think we’re moving very fast. It could happen pretty quickly”, he said.
