Three Saudis Killed in Attacks on King Khalid International Airport, GACA Says

RIYADH, Oct 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Three Saudi nationals were killed and several people were injured in two attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Thursday, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Friday.

GACA said in a statement on X that the first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second struck an aircraft belonging to Saudi state carrier Saudia.

The authority said injuries ranged from minor to severe and that the attacks caused material damage.

Airport operations have since resumed and air traffic has returned to normal, GACA said.

Yemen’s Houthis said on Thursday that they had attacked King Khalid International Airport with two cruise missiles.

The group also claimed an attack on an airport in the southwestern city of Najran, which Saudi authorities have not confirmed, and said it targeted an airbase in Khamis Mushait with ballistic missiles.

The Houthis say their attacks on Saudi Arabia are linked to the Kingdom’s support for government forces in Yemen’s renewed civil war.

Saudi Arabia says it is supporting an offensive by Yemen’s UN-recognised government aimed at retaking territory from the Houthis.

The latest casualties follow attacks earlier this week on King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport that Saudi authorities said killed three people.
