Makkah, January 14, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Smart technologies have increased the efficiency of crowd management inside the Grand Mosque through counting systems that rely on sensors and real-time monitoring of visitor movement at gates and corridors, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque said.
The systems track entrants and exits with high accuracy, supporting pilgrim safety and improving the worship experience, it said.
The authority said the real-time data allows field teams to make faster and more accurate decisions to regulate movement within the Grand Mosque and respond to changes in crowd density.
It said the technologies help guide visitor movement to support balanced distribution across levels, courtyards and corridors, reducing congestion and supporting safety and comfort.
The authority added that the systems enable early identification of density levels and potential bottlenecks, allowing proactive intervention within an integrated operational framework that combines technology with field readiness.
The authority said the solutions form part of ongoing efforts to apply modern technologies to serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, raise service quality and improve the pilgrim experience in line with development objectives.
