RIYADH, May 4 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed honoured former presidents of the Saudi Swimming Federation, along with swimmers and administrators who contributed to the development of water sports in the kingdom, during a ceremony marking the federation’s 50th anniversary.

The event was held at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh in the presence of Saudi Swimming Federation President Aqeel Al-Shaibani, board members and federation employees.

The federation traces its origins to 1973, when a committee for swimming and water sports was formed, before it was officially established in 1976. It joined the International Swimming Federation in 1979 and was among the founders of the Asian Swimming Federation and the Arab Swimming Federation.

The ceremony also reviewed Saudi swimming’s Olympic participation, beginning at the Barcelona Games in 1992 and continuing through Paris 2024, where Zaid Al-Sarraj and Mashaal Al-Ayed represented the kingdom.
