RIYADH, April 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia said multiple recent attacks had struck critical energy facilities across the kingdom, hitting oil and gas production, transport, refining, petrochemicals and power assets, killing one worker and wounding seven others.
A Saudi energy ministry source said the attacks disrupted operations at key parts of the energy system, including a pumping station on the East-West pipeline, cutting flows through the line by about 700,000 barrels per day.
The source said output at the Manifa field processing plant fell by about 300,000 barrels per day, while an earlier strike on Khurais reduced production by another 300,000 barrels per day, lowering the kingdom's production capacity by a combined 600,000 barrels per day.
The attacks also hit major refining facilities, including SATORP in Jubail, the Ras Tanura refinery, SAMREF in Yanbu and the Riyadh refinery, affecting exports of refined products to global markets. Fires at processing facilities in Juaymah also disrupted exports of LPG and natural gas liquids.
Saudi Arabia said continued attacks would tighten supplies and slow recovery efforts, adding to volatility in oil markets and weighing on the global economy as emergency and operational inventories are drawn down.
