Saudi-Led Coalition Reaffirms Support for Yemeni Forces, Vows Measures Against Houthi Threats

RIYADH, Oct 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said it would maintain full operational support for the Yemeni Armed Forces and continue backing the internationally recognized government, while reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s right to take measures against Houthi attacks and threats to maritime navigation.
Major General Turki Al-Malki, the coalition’s official spokesperson, said the Joint Forces Command remained committed to supporting efforts to restore Yemen’s state institutions and end the coup.
Al-Malki accused the Houthis of carrying out repeated abuses against Yemenis, including internal blockades, forced displacement, deprivation of food, appropriation of resources, mistreatment of tribal leaders and members, intimidation of women and recruitment of children.
He said such actions had caused years of suffering and damaged Yemen’s social fabric.
The spokesperson also cited Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, including attempts to target Makkah and Madinah and what he described as deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Al-Taif and Yanbu.
Al-Malki also pointed to attempts to target Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait, saying continued measures were necessary to deter further hostile actions.
He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its sovereignty and security and to protect the Two Holy Mosques, its citizens, residents and national assets.
The coalition would continue standing with Yemen and its people until state institutions were fully restored and the Houthi threat was ended, Al-Malki said.
He also warned that threats to shipping in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab could undermine regional and international security and disrupt maritime trade and navigation.
