Saudi foreign minister joins Gulf-EU meeting on regional escalation, Iranian attacks

Riyadh, March 5, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah took part by video link on Thursday in an extraordinary joint ministerial meeting between Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers and European Union foreign ministers to discuss what was described as a serious regional escalation and Iranian attacks targeting Gulf states, according to a statement carried by state media.


The meeting also included Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Kaja Kallas and Dubravka Šuica, the statement said.


The statement said the meeting discussed attacks on a number of Gulf Cooperation Council states and their impact, including civilian targets, vital facilities and diplomatic missions. It said EU member states reaffirmed strategic relations with the GCC and expressed solidarity, and the meeting reviewed ways to strengthen regional and international security and stability.


It said the meeting also discussed protecting civilians, full respect for international law and international humanitarian law, and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter.


Saudi participants included Deputy Minister for Multilateral International Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Nasser Al-Ghannoum, and Faisal bin Saeed, the statement said.
