Saudi Foreign Minister Calls for Gaza Plan Implementation, Wider Recognition of Palestine
NEW YORK, September 23, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah called for the full and immediate implementation of a US-backed plan for Gaza and urged countries that have not recognized Palestine to do so.
Prince Faisal spoke at a high-level meeting in New York that he co-chaired with France, the United Kingdom and Canada, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
He welcomed steps taken by those three countries and others to recognize the State of Palestine, and called for broader international recognition.
On Gaza, Prince Faisal urged full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict. He said humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter without obstruction and that the plan should lead to Gaza and the West Bank being unified under the Palestinian National Authority.
He also called for action against settlement expansion, settler violence and annexation policies. Prince Faisal urged the preservation of Jerusalem’s historical and legal status quo and rejected violence, hatred and incitement by all parties.
An independent Palestinian state and an end to the occupation were necessary for regional security and stability, he said.
Prince Faisal reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative, relevant UN resolutions and the New York Declaration.
